This site aims to provide information and statistics on all the clubs competing in the FIFA Club World Championship 2000, and the results of the competition.
16/03/00 - WANT TO KNOW MORE? Anybody who's interested in Brazilian football (or football in general) is invited to visit my new website at GlobalSoccer - BRASIL. It's unfinished at the moment but will be growing (literally every day) to become one of the premier Brazil-football sites on the web. Come along - and tell your friends.
18/01/00 - THE END. The first ever CWC2000 is over, and so is the first ever CWC2000 web-site. All information is in place and there will be no further changes made to the site. You may still contact me if you have any questions or opinions. Anyone who is interested in getting involved with a new football website I am starting should also visit the CONTACT page and drop me a line - I need help with an ambitious new project. Thanks very much to all who came and got involved. Peter Gasston.
14/01/00 - THE FINALS. Latest - Corinthians are the first CWC Champions! Their game vs Vasco stayed at 0 - 0 until full-time and went to penalties, where Edmundo's missed penalty was enough to give them the title. Necaxa also won on penalties and took 3rd place, Real Madrid 4th.
14/01/00 - ALMOST AT THE END. Tonight sees the finals of the CWC2000, and of course I'll have full match reports and statistics when they finish. But although the tournament is over, this site will remain here for at least another week or so, to bring you news of who won the other prizes: the Fair Play award, The Golden Shoe for best striker and so on. If anyone would like to work with me on future projects (or even offer me a job!), please get in touch via the CONTACTS page.
12/01/00 - MY OPINION. Find out what spoiled the CWC2000 for me by clicking HERE, then write and let me know your own opinion. E-mail me at p_gasston@arsenalfc.net or, if you have a web based email provider such as Hotmail, visit the CONTACT page.
11/01/00 - THIRD ROUND, GROUP B. It's going to be an all-Brazilian final for the 1st CWC, as Necaxa were unable to overcome rampant Vasco da Gama. Meanwhile, a second rate Manchester United still proved too much of a handful for South Melbourne.
10/01/00 - THIRD ROUND, GROUP A. Raja played the game of their tournament to almost deny Real Madrid a win, but the Spanish side barely scraped by, leaving Corinthians to need at least a 2-0 win to finish in first place... which they did - just, a 10 man team managing to overwhelm a staunch Al-Nassr. Corinthians go into the Grand Final, Real Madrid will play for 3rd or 4th place.
07/01/00 - SERVICES - A REMINDER. Although I can't provide live score updates on the site (you can find them at livescore.com), I do aim to have the crucial match information and a brief match report on the site within half an hour of the end of the game. You can find this information in the RESULTS section, by following the REPORT link. There are summaries of each club along with up-to-date team news in the PREVIEW section, and you can see votes and comments cast by your fellow fans in the VOTES section.
04/01/00 - A NOTE ON SPELLING. The spelling of the players' names used on this site are taken from the official FIFA squad lists. In various places I have seen these names spelled differently, but I have decided to stick with the ones released by FIFA. If you spot any errors please let me know.
03/01/00 - THE CUP.So this is it, the CWC2000 Cup - this is the reason that all the clubs will be in Brazil on January 5th, this is what they will all be playing for... other than pride and a $6 million first prize, that is! |
Opinion: Who will win the CWC2000? Drop me a line and let me know your honest opinion. Visit the CONTACT page to vote.
