We're So Pretty - Johnny Rotten Unveils new Arsenal Strip
On Monday 18th March 1996 the ex-Sex Pistols became the ex-ex-Sex Pistols
as they announced they were reforming and touring for lots of dosh. More
importantly for Gooners everywhere was the fact that lead singer and
celeb Gooner
Johnny Rotten (aka John Lydon) was wearing the yet to be unveiled new
Arsenal top. The new strip will be released this coming summer to coincide
with the Pistols' tour. Arsenal traditionists will be pleased to know that
the all-white sleeves have returned as can be seen by the picture of JR on
the left. A new feature and a concession to punk (anti-)fashion are the black
leather straps down the shirt. Originally these were going to be across the
legs of the shorts but it was felt they would hinder the running of the players.
The Sex Pistols will be starting their tour on June 23 in Finsbury Park,
close to the Home of Football.
